- Aunt Leah’s House[siteorigin_widget class="WP_Widget_Media_Image"][/siteorigin_widget] Aunt Leah’s House: The was the first house acquired by the Foundation from Aunt Leah’s Society – the Society had purchased the house in 2010. The house was built in 1953, as a family dwelling. In the late 1980’s the “Easy Out Independent Lifeskills Society”, the progenitor of the Aunt Leah’s organization, was looking for shelter for young moms and as a place to deliver their programs. Some of the founders put their resources together and bought this house, then leased it back to the Society and moved young moms and babies in. As a licensed residential program resource, it houses up to 5 moms with their babies in the upstairs parts of the house, with an office and semi-independent apartment in the basement. The Foundation purchased the house from Aunt Leah’s Place in late 2015, the first step in transitioning ownership and management of the buildings to the Foundation. It has since been leased back to the Society to carry on the programming.
- ThresholdsThresholds Boyne Street: “Thresholds 1” as the name suggests, is leased to Aunt Leah’s Place for delivery of their Thresholds Program. This is a communal living program delivered to moms and babies as they transition into fully independent living. This space is well equipped to provide a combination of living space and lifeskills training. There is space for up to 5 moms with their babies, each mom and baby having secure access to a bedroom and living space. Cooking, laundry and recreation can take place in a space shared among the moms who are there at the time. Since acquiring the property, the Society invested in a fully equipped training kitchen in the house, where weekly cooking classes can be carried out, and a backyard “coach-house” had been transformed into a training space, where Lifeskills training can be delivered to the moms from Aunt Leah’s Place programs. This property was acquired from the Society by the Foundation in early 2016.

Aunt Leah’s House

Aunt Leah’s House: This was the first house acquired by the Foundation from Aunt Leah’s Society. The house was built in 1953, as a family dwelling. In the late 1980’s the “Easy Out Independent Lifeskills Society”, the originator of the Aunt Leah’s organization, was looking for shelter for young moms and a place to provide support services. Some of the founders put their resources together and bought this house, then leased it back to the Society.

After over 30 years in operation, we’ve have begun our first ever Capital Fundraising Campaign to build the new “Aunt Leah’s House”. The new home will have four bedrooms with attached bathrooms, a large training kitchen, more office space and a second stage self-contained suite that a mom can graduate in to. With your help, we will continue to provide comfortable beginnings for vulnerable moms and babies.
